And so we begin...

The York Festival of Ideas began last night with a thought-inspiring lecture by historian and author of The Great Divide, Peter Watson.

Around the walls and floor of the Ron Cooke Hub we had a Mesolithic deep-time line - an exhibition looking at the concepts of time depth and the deep past's relationship to the present.

There was time for a chat over a glass of Pimms, and to get books signed by our speaker, whilst listening to some jazz from the excellent Kier Hall jazz trio.

Attendees were also invited to play 'So, where's the North, really?'  - do have a play on this yourselves, it's a lot of fun!
