Viking poetry, Barnes Wallis and polar exploration

Another great day at York Festival of Ideas yesterday.  We had talks on various topics including Viking poetry at Barley Hall, Barnes Wallis and the bouncing bomb at the Merchant Adventurers' Hall and polar exploration in the Ron Cooke Hub.

It was also first night for two Festival performances - Anne Boleyn in King's Manor and The Dutch Courtesan in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television.

A stunning venue!

Attendees at the Viking poetry at Barley Hall were greeting by a Viking! (and mead)

Today we have two talks at York Medical Society (Stonegate) - one on tuberculosis and one on 'healthy fast food'.  Both are sold out, but as ever do try on the door for any last-minute spaces.

Tomorrow we have 'Science out of the Lab' in St Sampson's Square. Come along and bring the kids for some interactive, scientific fun!
